Sailing: Experienced sailors can charter "captain-only" - and are encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of sailing the vessel. Novice sailors can sit back and relax or are welcome to become involved in handling the vessel. Sailing instruction is given.

Snorkeling: Your captain is an avid snorkeler and will introduce you to a variety of reefs all accessible from quiet anchorages. It is an activity learned easily by even the timid. It is rare when the pleasure of the Coral Reefs is not the highlight of the vacation.

Walks: From most of the anchorages there is access ashore to quiet roads and trails. We can lead you to hilltops with stunning views, along endless pristine beaches, past salt ponds and historical markers. You'll observe the vegetation of remnant rain forests and dry tropical forests. There are orchids and bromeliads, wild frangipani scenting the air and spectacular flowering century plants attracting Hummingbirds and Bumble Bees.

Turtles: a dawn walk along a beach may show the nesting activity of a turtle or the tiny tracks of newly hatched babies heading for the sea. All beach and in-water observations are recorded and used for turtle research studies.

Bird Watching :Dinghy by Brown Pelican rookeries or sail close by the cliffs where the Red Billed Tropic Birds nest in the winter. Watch for Osprey, Magnificent Frigate birds, Brown Boobies, and several species of terns. Ashore there are Bananaquits, Hummingbirds, and Turtle Doves ( for which Tortola is named), and on the salt ponds a variety of wading birds. At Flamingo Pond on Anegada, flamingos have recently been re-established.

Whales: From  January through April we watch for the humpback Whales - here to bred and give birth

Trish
Your Captain - Trish Baily

Your Captain: Trish Bailey, from Tasmania, Australia has spent over 20 years living and working on sailing vessels. She has been a charter chef in both the Med. & the Caribbean waters & has captained charter vessels in the BVI waters since 1988.

Trish has cruised extensively on her own vessel in the North and South Atlantic, and crewed on sailing and fishing vessels in some areas of the Pacific & Australia. She oversaw the refit of Serendipity in 1993 and has been captain since.

Her extensive sailing and high seas experience, both cruising and in the charter industry, her experience as both charter chef and captain, and her intimate knowledge of the BVI enable her to enhance your vacation while sailing on Serendipity.

In 1980 Trish cruised extensively in the North and South Atlantic on her 38' wooden ketch LICOLE. The cruise took her via the Azores to Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Canaries, West Africa, the coast of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

Trish has also traveled extensively on land in Europe and North, South and Central America. Returning to the BVI in 1988, she began sharing her chartering and eco-sailing experience with guests.

In 1993 she oversaw the refit of SERENDIPITY, and has been the Captain since.

Her Interests: Backpacking, bird watching, snorkeling and reef ecology, reading, photography, and ethnic cooking.
She is fluent in Spanish.

Recommendation: "All three couples greatly appreciated your attention to details of shipboard comfort and cuisine, and especially your willingness to lead us on expeditions up hills and through reefs and your wonderful sense of humor. If someone is looking for a personally guided underwater tour of the best reefs in the BVI, they should sign on with you. . ."

"The food, snorkeling and sailing were beyond our wildest expectations. . ."

Trish is joined with a professionally trained chef as the second crew member to insure your culinary delights.
