Kristian and Marianne
Captain Kristian Sondergaard &
Chef/Mate Marianne Rasmussen-Sondergaard have been sailing and working together on sailing
yachts for 25 years. They are both Danish citizens and during their time together they
have sailed extensively from Denmark to South America. They have transited the Baltic Sea,
the North Sea and the English Channel. They have cruised in the Mediterranean and North
Africa and sailed to the Virgin Islands via the Azores and Canary Islands. After spending
much time cruising in the warm southern waters of the Caribbean, the Bahamas and the East
Coast of the U.S., they have developed a love for exploring these tropical areas.
In
1989 they were captain and chef/mate aboard the New Zealand built 50' M/Y Dolfina. They
cruised on Dolfina from the Bahamas, through the Windward Passage to Jamaica, through the
Panama Canal to the Pacific side of Central America to San Diego.

Two
truly talented and extraordinary individuals, Kristian and Marianne are not only highly
experienced world sailors, but they have designed and built two fine sailing yachts in the
past 23 years, Nana, a 68' Baltic Trader, and Casador
this more contemporary 67' luxury cruising sloop.
Kristian
holds an International Yacht Master of 1st degree and Marianne holds an International
Yacht Master of 3rd degree. Marianne also holds a degree in teaching and has more than
mastered the art of creative work with upholstery and canvas. Her father is a chef, and
she was brought up with the love and interest for cooking. Their extensive traveling has
only served to broaden her palate and gourmet options. Kristian by all rights is a master
woodworker and art weaver. Their collective artistic skills are evident throughout the
yacht.
